Vegan’s can enjoy lunch with U

Having vegan friends and finding interesting places for them and non-vegans all to eat, is difficult. Yup, the carnivores can go vegan for that meal, but hey.

U&Co at Pendergardens is a new-ish place that attracts a crowd all day and well into the evening. Fabulous fresh design with a staircase idea to steal, and parking underneath the complex, which is great if you’re not in a big car.

The regular menu ranges from a full on English breakfast, to various salads, fish, meat and items you have to double check as the names make you think they are meat but are in fact, vege or vegan. It took us a while to decide, almost went for the ‘Pulled Pork’ is mushrooms…. but what tempted me was the spicy burger topped with halloumi (always a winner for me) and beetroot and my colleague had a club sandwich which was open, loaded with bacon, chicken and poached eggs. How does she keep her figure? The pattie of my vegan burger was smooth and proper spicy; not tongue burning, but really tasty. The cheese and beetroot were the perfect addition giving the slight acid and sweet and the sweet potato fries were the perfect hot and crispy and I didn’t have to share them. They also have a weekly specials selection which they post on their facebook page.

Drinks are displayed it seems ceiling to floor and there’s smoothies and a bar that is very well stocked. Kind of place you can imagine going for an after work drink….then snacks….then more drinks….then dinner and a nightcap. Lunch was great and we timed it perfectly. U&Co Social Cafe gets quite busy, like its name suggests. Try it out.

Our overall impression:
Carpark.
Varied vegan and non-vegan selection.
Well priced.
Friendly service.
Good for breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner.
