Through OZO Academy, OZO Group is training all its hospitality and cleaning employees, with them receiving certification recognised by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education upon completion
OZO Group, which employs over 3,000 workers across its subsidiary companies, has taken on the mammoth task of certifying all its hospitality and cleaning staff. The full-week training courses, which include modules in English for hospitality, food and beverage, hygiene, and health and safety measures, are officially recognised by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education (NCFHE).
“Our raison d’etre as an Academy is to better the services offered by OZO Group,” says Ms Roxanne Clarke, the Group’s Training Executive. “As a company that provides hospitality workers and cleaners to 95 per cent of local hotels, among many other sectors, it is important that our staff works in the same manner and with the same level of professionality wherever it is placed.
“Moreover, this move will continue to empower our employees. This certification is officially recognised outside of the company as OZO Academy is licenced by the NCFHE and the courses have been drafted in line with the Malta Qualification Framework, which in turn is aligned with the European Union’s Qualification Framework.”
The 40-hour course is fully-paid for by the Group, with employees receiving their normal remuneration throughout. This move follows many other radical steps undertaken by OZO Group, which is part of the London Stock Exchange Group ELITE, to ensure its workers’ success and happiness. These include paying its hospitality and cleaning workforce above minimum wage, and the setting up of the Adopt a Charity foundation under the patronage of The President of Malta, which provides full-pay to OZO Group workers who are diagnosed with serious or terminal illnesses, as well as help to their families.
“We are already working on the next series of courses that will be made available to our employees in the months to come, including Maltese culture classes for our foreign employees,” Ms Clarke concludes.
