One of the easiest places to get lunch is at Malta International Airport. The airport itself has a variety of eateries targeted at passengers and Skyparks has a number for the staff of the companies based there and the public at large.
Talbot & Bons was probably the first of these and doesn’t seem to have changed a dot since. It has the usual ftira, pastry bakes and a wide range of alternative soft drinks and beers. It also has a full English breakfast.
Service is pretty slow, but then again it is busy. i do think tough that adding an extra ordering point or having roving staff would help; not all people dining there, work upstairs, so time is a bit precious.
My partner works at Skyparks so I often meet him for lunch and we vary where we go. But pastry usually gets me, except on this day when I had a mild hangover and a full English was the only way to go. I’d never actually noticed it before, and glad I know its there now. Proper baked beans, sausage, bacon, egg and toast. All the ingredients to clear the fog I was feeling. My partner had a wrap which was huge. It would have taken me two sittings to get through that.
On top of a good selection of food, its like being in a parallel world with airline staff, passengers, regular workers and girls in little black dresses (uniform at one of the gaming companies) wandering in and out. But one of the BEST things? You don’t have to walk through smokers to get to a table – Skyparks has a separate area, away from the building (hallelujah) so you can have your lunch without the aftertaste of cigarettes.
Our overall impression:
Easy parking.
Good selection.
Well priced.
Slow service.
Good for after work too.
